Alyson's First Tractor Ride!

Big day today, Alyson went on her first Tractor ride!!

This is a shameless parental plug for my own child I know, but she had fun (and was perfectly safe as this machine has a second seat). We figured no need to waste a "first ride" on a garden tractor, or even my little 25 hp Kubota, nope go right to the top and ride around on a 450 New Holland Chopper.

It only lasted for an hour and a half, but she had a smile the whole time. For some reason so did I. Here is the proof. :)

Bragging permitted. Great experience, thanks for sharing.
Nebber saw a tractor like that 'un.

Its called a silage chopper. Its different then a combine in that it does not cut and sort the grass/corn as it chops it. We are dairy farmers so everything (stems, stalks, corn cobs, etc) get chopped up very fine (¼") and given to the cows.

We were one of the first ones to get a chopper like this around here. The local dealer said they would never work here in Maine. The ground is too hilly and the fields to small, so we had to go to Presque Isle, ME to buy this one ($250,000) It was a gamble, but it's paid off, we move some serious feed now. (an acre every 5 minutes).

This is a better picture of how it works...
