Here is a couple small bowls I finished today. 2 coats of Shellac and some Carnuba buffing. Does anyone have any better ideas for a finish for this type/style of wood?

Man, that's some nice wood, Jon. Great job with it, too. :thumb:

I've used Minwax Antique Oil with good results on spalted maple.

Jon, very good looking bowls, very nice wood too.
I finish my pieces of work with transparent stain, and, or Glitsa, with the reason that it is washable with a wet towel. Before I used Danish oil, but everyone touched it with his of her hands, and after a time it leaves marks behind. Not the best thinkable finish, but also not the worst finish.

Jon some great looking wood and great looking bowl. I use Minwax Antique Oil and General Finishes Seal-A-Cell and then Arm-R-Seal. I have several plates, platters and salad bowl sets with the General Finishes that have been used for almost 2 yrs and still look good.
