This box has an eccentric base and finial although the base isn't as eccentric as the finial. The base is also a little too chunky, but once you take it off the lathe, there's no going back. 11" x 5.5". The box is Box Elder burl, the base and finial are Walnut. Oiled, waxed, and buffed.

Curt,

What kind of wood did you use for the pedestal and finial? It must have been green because it appears to have warped pretty badly!

JK, that's a unique turning. The creativity of the turning community never ceases to amaze me.

BTW, I like the vessel and the lid, too. :thumb:

Great job, Curt. I really like this one.

I'm tellin' ya, you might ought to get that wobble in your lathe checked out. :p

BTW, Lorax approves, too.

Curt,
That base and finial are about as twisted as I am.

You're really making this eccentric stuff look appealing! Not sure I would call the base "chunky." I expect to see a base that gives the piece some stability. In my mind, you got it just right.
