My Shop Re-org - Getting ready for the New year!

Cable Management

It's kind of fun coming up with things to hang on the french cleats.

Did a little cable management. Made a little cover to hide all of the power cords.

Added a couple of cheap-o flourescent lights and hung some hammers.

Still haven't gotten around to the clamps, but that's my priority for today...

I'm hoping to be able to get most of this wrapped up by the end of next weekend. We'll see.

I've got 4 flip tops to build and another wall of junk shelving to demolish and build cabinets for.

What I like most about this reorg so far is that I'm creating a lot of bench top space for bench top tools. I figure if I can make enough horizontal surfaces, I can keep from piling stuff on the table saw and the workbench...

I am impressed Brent. This re-org is going to make all your future projects a lot easier to excecute. Imagine not spending most of your time trying to find some tool or clearing a space to work. You got to be feeling real good about the shop now.

Thanks Bill.

I'm starting to feel pretty good about it. It was very claustrophobic in there before, and now I'm starting to feel like I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Everything will have a place and will be labeled. I'm really tired of always have to look for things, or move things around to look for things.

Costco has two different sizes of plastic boxes that are working very well for me. I'm using those in the upper cabinets instead of cardboard boxes to organize everything.

I can definitely see value in the 'a place for everything and everything in its place' type of organization. :thumb:

The cables look much nicer ;) :D but I think you seriously need MORE hammers...... :rofl::rofl:

That hat was a gift from my BIL after they moved to Louisiana... Cracked me up so I had to put it in the shop as a shop clock. Actually keeps good time

Clamp Racks

Well, got a couple of clamp racks built for my oddball collection of pipe clamps, jorgensens, bessey's, quick grips, etc...

There are a few shorter pipe clamps left over, but I think I'll take those apart and put them in storage.

On to the hand clamps and spring clamps and c-clamps and such.

Yeah, but then I'd need more room to store them...

Got about 6 more pipe clamps and 4 smaller square tube aluminum ones that wont fit there so...

It's not Like I'm a Levine Machine that cranks out 5 custom made bed frames a week or anything...

Won't fit there? Are you kidding, you can pack those in a lot tighter than that. just turn the handles right and you can easily put another pipe clamp between the ones you got already :)

I've got these plastic feet's on those that take up a bit of space. I like them cause they make the pipe clamps a lot easier to deal with.

The nice thing is that these racks took about 20 minutes to make each, and if I upgrade my clamps someday, I can easily swap out the racks and clamps for something better! :thumb: :thumb: IT's a win/win/win/win situation!
