Darren's Shop

I had a staring contest tonight and lost...

But the sanding is mostly complete. Had a couple of touch-ups to do. Only about 10 spots, and a little more cleanup, then on to primer and paint. Heading over to the local ReStore tomorrow to see if they have any trim and old counters that may work.

Why do I get the feeling the drywall in your shop is going to be much better than the drywall in my house! LOL...

Have fun!

It's better than the drywall work that is in my house, at least the rooms I haven't touched up yet. I wish I had caught a picture of one particular plate cover. They had painted the walls, but had a plate cover in a weird spot/height. Since we were re-painting the office I decided to investigate, thinking it was an old phone or TV cable cover. Nope, just a hole in the wall they didn't want to patch, so they put a plate cover over it and painted it. :dunno:

 that reminded me of when we bought this house...the former owners left a picture and a calender hanging in an otherwise empty house...yep you guessed it, double the pleasure, double the fun

For some reason this struck me as very funny. I can imagine some house with a patch quilt of blank cover plates as a solution to damaged walls. Funny but sad that many are unable or unwilling to do something the right way.

A little drywall pro lesson for those that haven't seen this. Once I'm done sanding with the sanding pole, I then go around and double check using a shop light.

Here this corner looks pretty good.

Take the shop light and shine it down the wall at an angle from each side, left, right, up, down. The light will show the areas that still need smoothing out. Usually areas like this get missed and really show once some paint is put over them.

A quick hit with some sandpaper will smooth these out in a couple of swipes.

Also hit the local ReStore today. Found a great corner top for $10, got a gallon of paint for $10, door jamb material for $10, and unfinished MDF door trim for $1 each. The top will leave me enough room on each of the ends for storage cabinets, already had a grommet in it for my monitor too. :thumb:

Now i know i was not the only one thinking this :) I will be way too embarrassed to show the drywalling i did today. And mine was in the garage too :) You sure are pro at this stuff Darren.
Your restore it has my kinda pricing. Ours well lets just say they think you loaded when you shop there. What a score on the corner top.

I was thinking of a computer desk for myself, using a corner top like that. Geez, the cost of the laminate is WAY more than $10.
I'd kill to get that corner for a price like that..
I made a corner computer cabinet for my Wife, and its fun, but takes time and materials add up.

Yeah, I priced the pre-made counters at the borg today, for two pieces that would make the corner top, $160! I like this one better, gives me a more usable space in the corner and since it's a small room, won't eat up as much space since the straight areas are only about 19" wide.

Today was my wife's B-day and spent the day doing what the B-Day girl wanted to do. She finally released me from my B-Day duties around 6:00, so I managed to get the walls primed and ceiling painted tonight. Plan to do the walls tomorrow night and get some self leveling floor filler poured to get drying, so I can get the floors in by the weekend.

Did some caulking of the joints of the OSB too, shouldn't notice them at all once painted.

Darren you kidding right. I dont need a light to see my mess.

Wow is all i say to you job. Hey is that office meant for a king or what, i thought this was a shop office. :) Now i can never take another pic of my shop with my drywalling efforts :)
Your pro abilities shine right through the pics.
Now i know why your " honey do list " gets so long.
You need me to show you how to shorten it in one go.:):):)
