Not sure what this wood is, but it sure was splinter city... and Tough... I think I got it from Allen in the blank swap. (well, mark... from Allen)

That is a great little lathe. Was one my first lathes but gave it to my nephew so he could get into turning. Still using it to make pens he sells to classmates. Good little lathe.
