Our Grandson/heterotaxy syndrome - Goodbye Pierce

I want to send each of you our heartfelt thanks for your support for Jan, Jess, and Pierce over the past 12 months. It has been so comforting to all of us to know that so many were pulling for Pierce.

We got the call at 5:30 this morning that Pierce had passed away in his sleep. So, once more I ask that you will keep his family in your thoughts as they work through this very difficult time.

So sorry Rennie. I know everyone was really pulling for him. We'll Pierce and your family in our prayers.

Know the little guy is now at peace after a long and taxing battle. Obviously he was never a quitter. It doesn't matter how much time we spend on this earth, we all like to leave a legacy, something to be remembered for. Everyone can take a lesson from Pierce. There needs to be no quit in anyone. I remember the pictures with the smiles. What a message that gives! Life's tough, enjoy everything you can. Quite a legacy for such a little guy. May you and all of his family find the peace in your hearts that he now finds. Please accept my condolences. Grieve as you must. It is the way we heal. And smile, as did Pierce, for that is your destiny.

Thanks to all. Pierce was a fighter, no doubt. One of his several nicknames was "Fierce Pierce". Well earned.

Funeral plans are in the making. Looks like Jan and I will be in Indiana very soon, though not for very long. I'll post more as information becomes available.

Thanks again for all the kind words. This truly is a family.
