Fun Is ..... Continued

Couple shots for my grandson's second birthday party. My grandson enjoyed the organ, but liked the monkeys best. I gave him one for his birthday, he loves it. His mother on the other hand, was a little angry with me after the thing had sang and danced for about the 30th time! I love it when my daughter wishes her son had a different grandfather...:D

The organ was a big hit, I thought the kids that were old enough to crank it were going to wear it out!:(

Paul, the first thing I do is disconnect the speaker in them. They are more fun that way.
You are correct though.......even after all the hours we poured into building these organs....the monkeys are the real show. We are only there to provide the background music for them to perform with. :rofl:

Hi All, just a quick note, over on the Melvyn Wright site, www.buskerorgan.com , ready made music is on sale at 20% off for forum members. Just sign up for free then send an email for a list of music. Still hoping there will be a state side puncher for the music. Now on to a birthbay build for a granddaughter then work on the organ. Once again thanks for help, Paul the look on the kids surely makes a build worth the time.

Hello John!

Darn, I have been anxiously waiting to see your finished organ. I know you want to have painting on it and I'm so anxious to see what you come up with. I keep collecting pictures that may work for a future organ, not sure how I will put any on but I'll figure out something.

Speaking of painting, when I got home from my travels, I had a refund check waiting from Valspar. I say good for them, they at least did everything they said they would about my paint problem.

One other note, we now have a minimum of 6 organs that will be at our little organ jam we are having on June 21. Possibility of a couple more. I think that is pretty awesome for our little area. I am really excited, there will be Universals, Buskers and Senior 20 represented and maybe another brand.

Bob Myers, you know John Iles, he will have his 1 and 1/2 Universals there. He also took the liberty of sending me some pictures of the Universal construction you sent him when he was building his first one.

THIS IS GOING TO BE GREAT!

Hi Paul. I've got a daughter who will be moving soon, so I have spent some of my Senior 20 time helping her paint and repair. I've got the front piece cut and painted, and hope to have it mounted soon. Because I have all 17 pipes lined up in front, I had to extend my case a little, both in height and depth. Pictures soon.

As Jay would say: ":lurk::lurk::lurk::lurk::lurk::lurk::lurk:

I added 2" to the front of my case and very glad I did. I had my organ taken apart 4 times already, love having the extra space to work in.

Really quiet here lately, like talking to my self so I will ask, self, is spanish cedar any good for pipes? I would think so it is used in musical instruments pretty often. It is pretty soft and could crack pretty easily at 1/8" thick. I had some of that with the redwood I used on my Senior 20 pipes. Hummmm.

Just did an internet search on Senior 20 organs. Clicked on images of Senior 20 organs and there staring back at me are two pictures of smiling Tom and his organ on the top row! The man is getting very famous with that organ!

WOW! Three roll of music $210 American. That's taking advantage of the 20% discount Melvyn just gave. Guess that is the last of the music for me until the exchange rate gets a LOT better or someone in the U.S. starts producing it. I will have a test roll and 6 rolls of music and have invested almost 3 time what I have tied up in building my organ. Kinda answers my question on what to build next, looks like the Busker, uses the same rolls. This is certainly not Melvyn's fault, his prices seem very reasonable to me, if I lived in England. Maybe that's the answer!

JOHN! still anxiously waiting....I'm full of popcorn!

Hello All, I said ouch (can't write what I really said) when I paid for the three rolls and 3 spools. Hopefully someone on the US side will start making the rolls or a simple punch machine. I don't think the exchange rate will get better. I was looking to a possible Universal build but may go all the way to the Topsy, need to get the senior done.
