Highly figured walnut bowl

This is the 2nd of two pieces of georgeous highly figured walnut that I picked up in Iowa on my last visit to the in-laws. It has been sitting in my garage for nearly a year while I figured out what to do with it. Finally, I gave in to temptation and decided that it was time to turn it... even if I couldn't do it justice.

I intentionally left the form "simple" so as not to distract from the beautiful figure of the wood.

8" in diameter, 3" tall. Finished with 2 coats Seal-a-Cell / 4 coats Arm-R-Seal, then hand rubbed with rottenstone.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Thanks for looking.

You are right, that is one nice piece of wood, I think your bowl looks great, and I also like the fact that you did leave it simple so the wood could do the talking

I think you did wonderful! :thumb:

Great job with a great hunk of wood, Steven. I'm a proponent of simple forms for stunning wood, and this piece hits both of those criteria.

Wouldn't that be "hand rubbed with Rott-N-Stone"? :D

Sorry Steven, I couldn't resist. I really do like the finish you got on this piece. :thumb:
