doweling jig

Dowelmax

I have the Dowelmax, and I think it is a great tool. Easy to use, and dead accurate as long as your wood is cut square. I have used it to attach aprons to legs on a small hall table, and (instead of biscuits) for larger panel glue-ups, frames, etc. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I have the "dowl-it" I picked up at Rocklers years ago.I use it quite a bit it'll handle everything from 3/16 to 1/2" dowels self centering. werkz gud.:D

Been using this Dowl-it for over 30 years teaching and such, exact alignment gets harder as eyes get older but has served well and the kids could use easily...So.... :thumb:

I did my research and I picked the Dowelmax.
It is very well machined. It is very accurate. It is also very easy to use.
The results are nice and tight joints, well aligned.

I have one something like Don's. Unless you're going to do an awful lot of doweling or have some special needs, I think it's all you need. I think I paid maybe $40 for mine (but I don't really remember). I don't do a lot of dowel work.
