Well, Darren talked me into removing the counter and cabinet. Didn't really make sense to not do that and leave even part of the floor with the original framing.

And looking at the drywall, it was actually horrible. They tryed to do a spray texture on it and it was not well done. It was really uneven and globular and had drips here and there. Would have been a shame to put new paint over it, so I'm ripping out the drywall.

What kind of psychopath uses screws AND nails on drywall, on the same wall! I was trying to take the drywall down in nice full chunks by using a magnet to find the screws and remove those so I could pull the drywall off. Worked fine on one wall, then the next had both nails and screws, in no real pattern, so smash and pull it was.

No pictures yet, cause the drywall is still in there. Need to start loading up the truck and make a trip to the dump this week.

Well, you just don't know what you have until you open it all up. With new drywall you only have so much muddlng to do, patching it you really end up mudding a lot more trying to level things out in my experience. You also probably have some vapor barrier and insulation things to deal with given the location of the walls. Might as well run the speaker wires to the shower while you're at. ;)

Hmmm, Speakers in the shower, Not a bad idea.

Didn't seem right to leave a mess in there overnight, so I packed out the chunks-o-drywall, vacuumed it all up and took a picture.

A couple more walls to go, then I reckon I'll rip up the floor joists, just kind of want to figure out what to do about moving that vent stack before I go too crazy.

Trying to figure out if I should rip the ceiling down too. Now that would be a mess. I might have to think about that. It's not that bad I guess.

And to think, two years ago, all I asked him is what color he wanted it painted.

Over the years I have learned that if I want something done...I start doing it myself and he steps in and takes over :rofl::rofl:

But I am so happy. This is good practice for re-doing our master bath, which should be a piece of cake compared to this one. There should be no tearing all the foundation stuff out, just replacing things.

I'm not sure if this bit of plumbing was put together by mario or luigi?

All of this was just to service the shower drain and was buried in the ground under the shower. I have to move the drain position anyway, so out it comes, lol.

There were 2 vents coming off if it, one that went about 3' then was capped off. I'm guessing they got into it and just kept adding fittings and adding fittings.

Vote for 7 trips

That is some head scratching level of plumbing hookups!

Yeah, Thought I'd outsmart things and get a bunch of plumbing parts so I wouldn't have to make an extra trip. Which would have been a good plan, if I had bought the right size. Unfortunately most of that mess was buried, so I overestimated the number 1-1/2" parts and underestimated the number of 2" parts. Looks like I'll be going back in the morning, lol.

OK, in his own words, Trip #3 is currently in progress.

Here's where we stand so far:

Brent - 3 (actual to date)
Vaughn - 5
Jim - 9
Don - 11
Rennie - 14
Darren - 30

Well, That was a ridiculous number of trips fro plumbing parts, but I think I've got it all figured out now. Abandoned the old shower drain and ran it off to the sink/washer drain. Heck, they all probably meet up in the same place just on the other side of the wall.

I had worked up a dry fit to use the shower drain, but figured I'd have to run a vent to that other line (that is vented) and then thought that seemed awfully redundant.

Verfied the layout with my plumber friend and he gave me the all clear. Much much simpler than before. I have a feeling that previous person doing this work glued things up without dry fitting and just kept adding parts that weren't really necessary.

Hold on there Boba Looey. This is just the rough in. there are fixtures, drains, connectors, shut offs, sinks..... Lot of opportunities to run the numbers up.

Yeah, and I see some disconnected electric stuff, too. That'll probably require a couple trips, too. I think he'll make my 9 for sure - maybe even more!
