A few pictures of my latest project in the northwoods.



Got about 40% of it decked yesterday. Hopefully I can be close to finish decking today. The new knee doesn't care for this crawling around even with knee pads. Due to schedule it will probably be late June before I can get the log railing.

I didn't like what it cost but it was a tradeoff. Each year this stuff get harder to do and who knows if I will be able to do it next year. So make hay while the sun shines.

Fortunate to just find the materials. Our borg doesn't even have decking on the racks.

I go to a couple of local lumber yards for material. They don't have an abundance but typically have what I need. If not they'll have it within a week. Closest borg is 100+ miles away.

Got sidetracked with another project and then had to go out of town for a week. Anyway finished up the decking e weeks ago and was able to work on railing this week.



Should be able to finish the rail & stairs next week then it'll be just a matter of staining.

No acreage. This is our retirement location to I am trying to minimize daily/weekly maintenance. With all the trees I only need to mow every couple of weeks but on the other hand I
blow leaves almost daily for a month.

That's what I have in mind. I like the first type but not sure of the offset. The second type is more what I envisioned but with a lag on both sides.

I believe I can make this work. Mount the barrel to the jamb/post and the j-bolt to the stile. The stile is +/-4" dia. so will have to counter bore it to get the 2 1/2" gap on the small size.
The large one will work but seems like overkill.

Now for a latch. I like this concept.

It would need to mount on a 4" dia. stile and have a bar length of 6-7"

Ordered hinges and cane bolt for the gate Tuesday, they were delivered Saturday. I was impressed.

Finished the stair rail & the gate. All that is left is installing a cane bolt and staining.
