I have been working on putting picture slides on my computer.. We opened one of the boxes our slides are kept in and this thing was in the box... Any one know what it is?? Looks to me to be some kind of a cutter out of some machine. I really have no clue, what it is and where it came from and why I have it...

It looks like a spindle out of a cotton picker head.

it is 5 5/8" long,,, shaft is 1/2".

Back when I was picking cotton we just used our fingers... no fancy gadgets.
