300 year old painting

I need to let the painting air out from the cleaner and probably apply a new coat. Damar and beeswax is an interesting clear coat. The more beeswax added the softer the finish. Damar will return to its crystal hardness with out the wax. But as you can see it gets supper dark, very much like shellac. Shellac yellows and attracts dirt, beewswax and damar will take on dirt much faster but depending on the wax content and is not nearly as hard. I prefer the soft glow of this coating Ted.
The portrait kind of looks like you. :)
