I will send a photo of the jig, when I get home.Great job, Gayle! I enjoy making turned items with Celtic knots. They have a lot of "how'd you do that?" effect.

around 30°Gayl, what angle did you end up using?
Dig the jig, nice and simple!
I've done similar using my Incra miter gauge. I've made pens, screwdrivers, and a fireplace poker handle. It's a great illusion. He is a photo of the jig. Set the saw 1/8 less than the piece your working with.
Quick question? Can I cut 3/8 or 1/2 off the end of the blank. Recut again and use a different wood and get a double Celtic Knot?
That is good to know, and well detailed post. Thanks VaughanYes, that'll work. I've also seen some where there was a knot on top of another knot with a third wood species. Do one set of four cuts at 30º and another set on top of them at 45º. And the actual angles aren't cast in stone. As long as all four cuts are the same angle it'll work. I think I used 45º for this poker handle.

While we were there, one recurring problem was that the handle kept falling off the fireplace poker. I told Jeff I had the technology to fix it, lol. A couple of weekends ago Jeff was over...familywoodworking.org
