Padauk layered bowl

I thought this dirty piece of wood was padauk so I cut it into some squares, glued them together and turned the resulting blank into a small layered bowl. It didn't smell like padauk and it didn't affect me negatively like padauk does sometimes. It is quite red. The color is quite rich. The foot is a scrap of birdseye maple.

About 2 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter.

If it is padauk it will edge toward brown over time. Whatever it is you made a beautiful item out of it. Oh, and sorry I was late for your birthday thread :whistling:

Yeah, I know about padauk and its turn to muddy brown over time. That is one of the reasons I decided to get rid of my inventory in that timber. Back when I used it for trays and inserts it would stay reddish longer because the wood was inside the jewelry box, not forever, just a little longer.

Thanks for the birthday wish.
