Has anyone ever tried a DIY saw sharpener

The HF saw blade sharpener is a cheap non-rigid piece of junk. Looking at VEVOR saw blade sharpener looks like it might work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FZJDW9SY/ref=aod_recs_desktop_prsubs_0

Has anyone ever tried a DIY saw sharpener

Grinding carbide requires diamond grinding wheels. Wheels should be commercially available and the machine should accept those commercial wheels. As I spent a lot of years in and around cutter grinding I have a good idea what will work and not work. I also worked in and around...

Has anyone ever tried a DIY saw sharpener

Years ago I bought a circular saw sharpener from Harbor Freight they no longer sell it and I know why. I bought it back in 05 but never opened the package untill yesterday. Sooo I am asking if anyone has tried saw sharpening at home Not HSS - only carbide

CNC Sign - Question on why I'm getting 'lines' in my sign, and my tools to sand and clean things up.

The CNC stuff works like this. The machine moves around so that the cutter maintains the programmed distance above the table. The machine does not make those marks. So that is NOT a CNC issue. Material DOES move around. As material is removed, so do the stresses react - wood moves Z zero is...

    Step down 50 volts

Possibly - but I really don't think that history of the voltage is the issue. I think I may have said it is around 130 going into the stepper motor drivers. I have a retired electrical engineering friend that I spoke to about this issue. It is a VVVVVVEEEEEEEERRRRRRRYYYYY...

    Step down 50 volts

Not sure. When I said 260 volts, I was wrong I was talking from memory of something I did mmmmmm maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a year ago. You guys promoted me to verify my readings, which I did and posted here. I do understand what you and Don are saying. There may have been a glitch in the...

    Step down 50 volts

Don, I didn't understand your question. I went to Teds shop and tested the voltage as I posted above. It is within the 240+/- 5% I measured 245 volts I thought you had read that post above, so I didn't understand what you were asking.

    Step down 50 volts

I will go to Teds shop to test amperage IN to the transformer under load. Not real sure how to get that correctly but I will give it my best shot.

    Would this work? https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/TDGC2-3KVA-Single-Phase-Variac-Variable_1600208803415.html?spm=a2700.prosearch.normal_offer.d_title.62ae67afR86yaV&priceId=7dc89f475026450c8b2f18b62d796047

    Step down 50 volts

ahhhh yes. That WOULD give me a much better sense of concept. Clamp on meter - as in a test meter to clamp around the wire for amperage testing. Yes I just bought one just for this. Never used one before, but I can learn. I like the Variac aproach. I will find one that is not too...

    Step down 50 volts

He called me. There is no other place or person to call. Just me. There is no electric supplier. His business partner bought a buck 240-220 from Larson, but I told them to return it as that would not solve the problem.

    Step down 50 volts

I looked at a Variac but As Darren pointed out it may not be a good long term solution. Also getting real 220v IN to the transformer only gets me to the max input or higher going IN to the stepper drivers. As measured the 2:1 transformer output is more than 50% of the input and still overpowers...

    Step down 50 volts

OK - I did some testing Wall plug is 245 volts In to machine is 245 volts IN - to the 2:1 transformer is 245 volts OUT - from 2:1 transformer is 125-126 volts IN - to Stepper Driver is 125-126 volts Stepper Driver requirement is 60 - 110 volts The steppers are being overpowered. How do I get...

    Step down 50 volts

I am going to Teds shop today about noon. What specifically should I measure. Line voltage Voltage in to machine Voltage in for 2:1 transformer Voltage out for 2:1 transformer Voltage is for stepper driver Not sure how to get voltage out for stepper driver - as that is not constant Voltage in...

    Step down 50 volts

As I go through this process and read the manuals and research online I am learning more and more. I also found out WHY the VA on Teds machine for the 2:1 transformer is rated at 2000. I believe the Chinese buy the 2:1 transformers in volume and just adjust the stepper drivers output to match...

    Step down 50 volts

I can measure the line voltages again to be sure. I cannot measure every hour for a couple of days. Teds shop is an hour trip from me. I saw through a google search that US voltage can range from 216 to 264 volts. I want to plan accordingly. I know in my house I measure a full 250 volts This...

    Step down 50 volts

YES - but I want to step down by 50 volts This is ONE scenerio The other scenerio is to eliminate the 2:1 and step down line to 95v with 4 taps

    Step down 50 volts

To some degree yes, in the sense that I need to be reducing line voltage down to the voltage I need for the stepper drivers. I am completely certain that I am not describing what I am trying to do well - because I don't know the terminology well enough. As I go through this process and dig...

    Step down 50 volts

Yes, I have been there and looked at that already, I have a new quote from Larson, but depending on the variation of voltage coming in from the electric grid I end up with either MAX or overpowering the stepper drivers. I also do not want change whatever else is the control cabinet. That buck...

    Step down 50 volts

Don, The next time I get to Ted's shop I can grab a pic, but I am 100% that will not help. I may have a pic of it on my computer and I will post it later today if I have one. Ted's shop is a little over a one hour trip. It is a toroidal transformer and the ONLY outputs are the ones for the...
