New Shaving Horse, and PSA warning

Hi all, nice to stop back for a visit. Anyway, for those who read Fine Woodworking, the current issue has an article about making a shaving horse. The design looked good to me, especially the comfy chair part of it, so I made one. Taking an out of character step, I bought the detailed plans...

    A small serving table

Yup, I have some other tables made in the same style and spirit. I guess maybe there's a fine line [maybe not so fine] between consistency and being boring, but simple lines and traditional joinery are what I tend to do. Partly it's because I am not very creative in general, and usually keep to...

    A small serving table

Well, this is what I've been up to lately. We wanted a small serving table to put snacks and such on, when sitting near the woodstove during our long cold winters. Easy to move, to use elsewhere too. I thought of making one with folding legs, but ultimately chose a more traditional design, and...

Firewood question - what would you do?

I received a load of firewood yesterday. At $65 a face cord, it was supposed to be maple which has been drying for 2 years. My woodstove has a door opening of 7x9" and the wood was all to be split to fit in the door. This is some of what I got: So what would you do?

    My next big project

I've made a bed somewhat similar in that the posts all have square caps similar to the sketches. So here's my $.02 based on painful bumps in the night. Round over the corners of the caps. It's easy to walk into them in the dark, and at thigh level, it can be rather painful.
