2019 ring calendars

got started on this one yesterday. glued up the blanks for the rings last weekend, and trimmed them to size yesterday. felt good about using the laser, and engraved the first of the two with the date numbers, day, and month names, and a small square in the center, to line up the bit to cut the rings. i thought that it would be a good idea to make the square when doing the engraving, because it would be at the same center as the engravings. also cut the parts for the fronts, and backs. engraving the other one today, and taking all to the cnc today.

got the second set of names and such done, and started to cut the rings loose.

after cutting the rings, i found errors, and had to redo from the start. changed my procedure to cut the rings first, then engrave. got the blanks glued up, and the first set of rings cut. now to find the center, and off to the laser.

got the second set of rings cut today. but, there will be only two calendars, for some reason, the third sets have always messed up. so, two it is...

with the rings cut, on to the laser work. got both of the sets of rings engraved last night. starting the fronts and backs today.

got the fronts, and backs cut. tested, and engraved the design on both fronts. separated all of the parts, and adjusted the rings for smooth turning. test assembled both calendars. now just an oil finish, and glue them up.
