got a start on cutting them today. have enough walnut large cross parts for 40, enough maple parts for 35. 35 is a good, number. still have to cut the 140 end parts.... (lot of cutting done today).
finally, the rain has stopped (but temps are a bit chilly), and i was able to get into the shop. turns out, that even though it was in the high 40's, to low 50's outside, in the shop it held at 60. finished the last of the maple parts, and cut all of the small ends today (140 of them, with a couple extra, just in case).
got back to these today, and got quite a bit done. after much sweating, managed to finesse the fit of the main cross to where i like it. then started cutting the half laps for the main cross, and for the smaller crosses. i will have to finesse the smaller cross parts a little. after finessing the main cross half laps, wound up with enough for 3 cross potent candle holders, the end caps are a little bit longer than the jerusalem cross end caps. i forgot to mention, there will be 35 jerusalem cross candle holders.
got quite a bit done today. trued up the maple parts, and snuck the fit of the half laps to the main cross. then cut all of the half laps for the smaller crosses. now on to the assembly.
more work done on these today. got all of my parts organized, and started assembly. got the main crosses glued up, and when they were set enough, added the maple smaller crosses. once they were set up enough, added the end caps. now all that is left, is to do the sanding, and marking off of where to drill the holes for the brass inserts, and a bit of a quick bath in blo.
got them all sanded flush on top, and flat on the bottom today (would be awfully silly if they wobbled). the smoothing sanding starts tomorrow, then on to drilling the holes. going to make a center point layout template tonight, to make it easier, and faster.
