got the other spacer parts (with holes drilled for axis pin) done today. started on the gears, but needed to shallow out the spaces between the spokes. starting those will be on tomorrow' ticket. 36 down, 36 to go...
with those gears out of the way, started in on the tops. did a bit of tweaking the feeds, speeds, and passes, and finally hit the sweet spot on all of the runs. 3 more sets, then on to the bases.
finished up the one on the machine, and got the next to the last one about an hour away from finishing the pockets, and starting the profile cuts. 5 down, 1 to go...
well, it took it's dear sweet time, but, it made it's appearance. i had finished the next to the last one, got the pockets done on the last one, reset the number of passes, and the speed for the profile cut. all was going well, until pop wanted to tell me something about the one neighbor lady (she passed the other day, at 101 1/2). within 10 seconds, and it being almost half way through the first profile, i heard that awful sound of binding, and the damage you see was caused in the 10 seconds it took for me to run in and hit the emergency stop. got a new blank cut, and working on the pockets, hopefully there will be no distractions...
