well, my cousin's girlfriend is finally making an honest man out of him. so, for a wedding present, i decided to make an oval plaque, stacked text with their names. had the walnut selected a while ago, and got a start on it tonight after the last of the one type of crosses. cut the profile first (going to cut on the band saw, and sand to the edge), then started in on layer one. only going ,05 inch, and set it up to do 100 ipm, and 10 passes. the first pass is always a bit worrisome, and after that, it goes smooth. with 42 minutes to go, it was time to call it a night. start up again tomorrow.

started up again today, and finished off the top layer. then it was on to the bottom layer (last name), and got that done, and did the vcarving. i wasn't quite happy with the way the first run of it looked, and kept lowering my z axis until the results were more to my liking. now for some final sanding, and oil. since i had to fill the odd bit of missing grain, i will be painting the first names first yellow, then gold. while the bottom layer was being cut, pop was mowing his lawn (found 2,00,047 mushrooms desecrating his lawn), i banned him from plugging in anything in the garage, as the last time he did, he tripped a breaker, and took out the computer and cnc machine (which wasn't running at the time).IMG_20210531_101906683.jpgIMG_20210531_102912040.jpgIMG_20210531_103527673.jpgIMG_20210531_135907017.jpgIMG_20210531_150200908.jpg
