It would change the pivot point slightly so you'd have to accommodate that with some (more/differently shaped) relief at the front top of the leg. If I'm visualizing it correctly I believe that means there would be a gap which would loose that kind of ""seamless junction" look you can get with a center pivot.. Otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I do like all of these folding chair designs (although the one I really want to make is based on the wegner 512.. ). This one is also reminiscent of a lot of the lighter weight step stools,
A Wegner 512 would be cool. My wife dragged this home from somewhere. Nothing to identify what it is. Only a stamp embossed on the back of the stretcher indicating it was made in Yugoslavia.
