A new hybrid pepper mill blank

My first, from a partial can of silmar 41 a friend gave me... he didn't like the smell and my shop is more open than his,so smell wasn't as much a problem... this started out to be a 6" pepper grinder, but the resin shrank enough that the shaft was too long and if I had ground off the thread end, I wouldn't have had enough thread to make the adjustments in the grind, but don't have necessary tools to take off the bottom end and re-flatten the shaft to fit in the grinder.... so, I cut it down to a 4" mill and this is what I came up with... the blank is a chunk of White Oak Burl and the resin is Silmar 41 dyed with alcohol ink in an orange tint...

Wasn't sure I liked it either... it didn't come out the way I envisioned it... maybe when football season starts again, some Volunteer fan will want an orange pepper mill.
