... I can not believe people are OK with this ...
I think the main reason a company like grizzly is growing is the fact that they deliver quality product for a decent price. I will not pay three to for time the cost of something just becouse "MADE IN AMERICA" is stamped on it. The be charged extremly high prices for repair parts that only that company makes. Grizzly has great costumer service and doesnt charge huge amounts for something that cost less then five bucks to make. Just my two cents worth.
But isn't that what copyrights and patents are supposed to protect Robert? Your statement is basically an admission that manufactures can and are taking advantage of the system by using someone elses design, and that is not right. So I ask you Paul, If I came to your house would I find that all your stuff was made in the states, by the original inventor? Lets face it, a lot of things in life can only be built a certain way, simple things like a digital thermometer. Electronics work one way. If you want to do something your very very limited on how it can be built and still get the desired end result.
I admire the fact that you have high ethical standards. But in the real world those ethics just are not practical. If manufacturers followed high ethical standards like that there would be very little choice of product on the market.

During the 80s I traveled Asia a lot, and in Taiwan there were patents filed in their system for products that were produced in the U.S., and they were producing product off the exact same design. That is theft, pure and simple. So, how do you enforce theft in a third world type country
I don't claim to own only American products, but I do try to buy them whenever possible, just as I will other high quality products that are made in other countries such as Germany, Japan, Canada, etc...many of the products produced in China are good quality products, but one can never be guaranteed as they don't have the same standards to manufacture that we do in the U.S., and that's the difference, IMO.
