Bakelite saw handle

I hadn’t seen a Bakelite saw handle before, but found this old Disston on the shelf of the garage today cleaning up. It makes sense they made them, it was the plastic of its age and looked nice.


One side is just an insert to the main handle, notice the color difference in the pic above?

It’s nice to find these old treasures and this is particularly interesting. I hope the blade is in good condition, it could become a user. I’ve tuned up a few of them, very satisfying, but could become a real rabbit hole if I let it!

Actually, not bakelite, but Tenite -- an Eastman Kodak product.
Disston marketed it as "Disstonite" -- btw, that is a Disston D-95
