I have a Rigid that I bought in about 2003 or so. It has done a LOT of sanding and it still going strong.
If I were to be out shopping today I may be looking at Bosch, Milwalky, or others like that. Read as many reviews as possible, but take the reviews with a grain of salt. I also lean on consumer reports.
I also listen to folk here on this forum
In the end, I jumble the results and decide based on all the above.
