Covid-19 Injection

Got mine from the VA. Pfizer vaccine 1st shot mid January, 2nd one mid February. Sore arm after the first; no reaction to the second one. Wife got hers at local hospital outpatient clinic. Also Pfizer; also no adverse reaction. So, we're 'safe' - for now.

I got the "one and done" J&J shot a few weeks ago. (Luck of the draw...in NM you get whatever they have when your number comes up.) No adverse reaction whatsoever, not even a sore arm. LOML got her first Pfizer shot about 10 days ago and will be getting her second one soon. She had a sore arm for a day or so, but no other side effects.

Jan and I got our second shot about a week ago - Moderna. She had no reaction to first shot. About 36 hours of feeling cruddy after the second. I had only some soreness around the injection the first time. Ditto for the second shot plus about 24 hours of muscle soreness in the lower back.

Dianne and I got our first shot on 2/23, then second on 3/23... no side effects on the first one, but both got a little sore in the joints on the second.. only lasted one day and we were fine. Still keeping to the CDC recommendations, staying close to home mostly, visits to doctors and grocers, wearing our masks when in and around stores and doctor offices.

Speaking of doctors, need to rant a bit.... Dianne has a pretty bad tremor in her left hand and arm and sometimes in the right... our primary care doc recommended we see a specialist that was scheduled for today.... it's a 45 to 50 mile drive from our house to the doctor's office and we left in plenty of time to make the appointment... we have to go through Maryville to get to the doctor's office and hwy 411 has developed a sink hole about halfway through town, so we were slowed and delayed a few minutes.... I pulled up out front of the clinic where her office is at about 1:03 pm for a 1 pm appointment... by the time we checked in and paid the co-pay it was about 1:10 pm.... the doctor declined to see her because we were 10 minutes late. It's very difficult for Dianne to get around because of her health issues... she uses a walker and/or a cane... thoroughly hacked off.
thinking about trying to register a complaint with the clinic/hospital group, but doubt would do any good.
end of rant.

I got both of mine last month (pfizer), had no issues other than a bit a sore shoulder. My wife got the 1st shot (also pfizer) last week, had a bit of red under arm the next day and took some benadryl for it. My mom, who had covid, got her shots ( pfizer as well) has had no issues with either shot.

Hope you and Bobbie have good experiences with both shots also.

thats one advantage of having daily pain I didnt notice anything unusual after both shots.

my sisterinlaw passed out when she got out of bed the first day of the first shot. (but she is/was going thru cancer treatments which might have contributed to that)

my wife had little to no issues other than sore arm.

thats absurd

how many dozens if not hundreds of times have I waited a few minutes to over an hour after my appointment time because the doctor was running late. Actually, Id say 95% of my doctor appts take me in late....like I said from 5 minutes to 1.5 hours late.
Id find a new doctor...sorry, thats how I feel.....the guy has to realize things happen, and if you arent in the habit of running late theres no reason why he couldnt fit you in.....

This was our first visit, so no history with the doctor... we let the girl tht told us she wouldn't see Dianne that we weren't happy and would talk to our primary and let her know how we were treated. We won't be going back... will be looking for another doctor....
From where we live it's 45-55 miles to any of our doctors... there aren't any doctors in Tellico Plains. We always plan our trips to allow for about 15 minutes over what we think the drive time will be... didn't and couldn't know about a sink hole in the middle of our route.

Very strange reaction from the Doctor and in the past I have had very similar wait times as Allen, sometimes understandable as the doctor can not anticipate the amount of time he needs to spend with each patient. Also in the past I have had very little real face time with the doctors/dentists as they are on a tight schedule with me having the feeling of being on an assemble line. But all that has changed with our move to our little town. Our first visit with my new doctor, he spent a good hour with me! Granted it was my first visit and he was getting all my background and vitals, but still. But that was nothing, my dentist spent 2 hours going over every tooth in my mouth and assessing where my dental health was. And again it was a first visit to ascertain my dental health and probably not indicative of future visits. But I have never experienced so much face time with either the doctor or dentist before especially in an assessment visit, not for a specific reason. I have no issues both medical or dental to really warrant much time spent going over history. They were both very thorough and had booked the appointment duration accordingly. That was the key.

Bill, you nailed it. Assembly line medicine, no time to establish a connection, and you're just another warm body passing through. I'm envious of your small town experience because it's what I had growing up. You will see those folks in church, at the grocery store, maybe as part of a local service organization. They'll take good care of you.

according to the new york times, the us has called for a halt of the johnson & johnson vaccine, due to blood clotting...
found what i was looking for, as it sounded familiar. in germany, they pulled the astrazeneca vaccine, as people were throwing blood clots. one of the ingredients they have in common, is polysorbate-80.

Polysorbate 80 from vaccines has also been shown to abruptly change heart function. Clinical studies have shown polysorbate 80 to increase the risk of serious side effects such as blood clots, stroke, heart attack, heart failure and death in some cases.

The place I went to had rows and rows of chairs with a constant flow of people coming and going. It had to be hundreds per hour.

Even so - there were dozens of support staff. I did not feel like I was just part of a production line. Each nurse was friendly and courteous. All together I was in there no more than 20 minutes TOTAL. No wasted time.

On my first visit when I passed out there were 4-6 people caring for me. I was well treated and cared for.

This time they had be on a bed, gave me the shot and a nurse stayed with me until I felt OK to go.
