Deck stain suggestions

We are going to weather treat our deck this summer and am not sure on what brand/product to use, so what is good, what is not?

I live in a very different environment but can say that Australian Timber Oil is easy to apply and easy to refresh. I have used it on redwood spa enclosures and cedar patio planters for many years. My friend used it on his plywood shed floor and has been very happy with it. He also lives out here in the desert basin so this may not apply to what we think of as the north east.

PPG makes a very good product. Use to be Siekens. Not sure of the PPG name.

My favorite deck stain is Trex. We just resurfaced our deck with Trex about a month ago. I have to say it looks great and will never need staining. I even have Trex trim on the band joists. Now if they would just make Trex lattice.

Too true. I have had some sort of a spa for many, many years. The deck area around it has always been syntho. Never a problem. Just don't go too dark colored if you live where the sun shines a lot. That stuff can get hot. DAMHIKT ;-)
