I don't use is so much, but several co-workers do. They started as a search engine to compete with Google. They still have advertisers and are ad supported, they just don't target you so specifically. As far as a browser, they have Android and Apple apps, but none for desktop. They offer a Chrome browser extension to use their search engine.

I guess the caveat with using their browser would be that some sites may have issues loading if there is code that is specific for the more standard browsers. Then if the sites are checking for Ad blockers, you may not be able to load the sites without turning off Ad blockers for the site.
