My sister asked me to build her a potting bench. She sent me some Ana White plans. This bench will be sitting outside so I made it with redwood and pressure treated 2x4s and fence boards. I varied from the plans by putting in a rear rail in both the top and bottom shelves for strength. I routed in her last name to personalize the project. Easy afternoon project. She will probably cover it with some type of spar varnish.

Very nice. I made a similar one about fifteen years ago.

The article I copied mine from included a couple 'drawers' beneath the top for potting soil and utensils. The utensil drawer was conventional, but the potting soil drawer was a black plastic tray - originally intended for mixing mortar - from the big box store. It just slid in/out on a pair of 'L' shaped runners. There was a hole in the top, over the soil drawer so that excess soil could be swept back into it.

We used it for several years, but left it behind when we moved.
