Cleaning out shop of all strips to burn in sil s firepit
Decided to waste a bottle of glue and make two boards
Then decided to add a border and make them small end tables
The small one the aprons and legs were real cruddy white oak with stains so I spray painted the leg assembly
Not sure if I'm going to lacquer the tops
Larger table base is sapele and Spanish cedar
All shorts so not much else I could have done with all of it except boxes or boards
Not fine woodworking but keeping busy

slightly tapered legs

Looking good. Why'd you paint the one's legs, though? Just curious.

The white oak came off a trailer that hauled lawn mowers
I thought I made a good score with all that 2-3 inch white oak but most of it was cracked and split
I got very little usable wood from it
I had one 6 foot piece left and cut thin legs out of it
The rest is in the burn bin
Too many blotches /mineral stains? And oil didn't look even
I sprayed 4-5 coats with rattle can
Covered it all

this is the cruddy quality of wood

By golly will steal the idea. I have a bunch of scraps just begging to be made into something. Maybe just glue all together and see what comes out. Very nice pieces.

the lumber was free, I just had to haul it home, and I thought Id get enough bf to make 2 adirondack chairs, never happenned. nails, dirt, metal staples, splits, cracks, wasnt putting most of it thru my planer or jointer.
im done going out of my way for free lumber, usually if its free and used, its pretty much seen better days and thats that.
the pandemic killed my big chance to score 100s of bf of fine walnut, cherry, and oak.

I have nothing but 40-50 bf of sapele and a few bf of maple left, maybe 5 bf of red oak.

I need to get out and make a trip to the bronx for an order. Ive been reluctant, first the pandemic, and then the protests and riots. I didnt want to get stuck on any roads if protesters stopped traffic.
