EYES

When I had my cataract surgery they did one eye at a time. After the first eye it was like I was blind in the other eye. After a while the eye with the surgery tries to help the other eye to see better and before you know it things are blurry again.

I had an allergic reaction to one of the eye drops I was using after the first surgery that took months to clear up so I had screwed up vision for about 4 months. It was worse during that time than it was before the surgery. It's always something....

My eye surgeries were "textbook perfect." I came back the day after each one (two weeks apart) and was 20/20 both times. At the 6 week follow-ups I was 20/15 OS and 20/10 OD. No complications. I have my five year check-up in a couple weeks. Still seeing great, so I don't anticipate any problems.

I guess it could have been worse....he could have put it upside down and you see everything the other way around in reverse. :p

Did you have to have corrective surgery to replace the wrong lens? I hope not.
Yes I did Mike they had to go back and do Lasik on that eye to make it fit the lens. That made it better but still not right

I am sorry to hear that Jay. I hope it was done at the doctor's expense. I am not a big fan of malpractice lawyers but this might be a case where one would be appropriate.

I hope that your vision improves.
Yes it was at their expense. I'm not big on Lawyers too my only complaint was the Surgeon that put in the wrong lens never had the guts to tell me to my face. I found out from my eye Dr about it as he admitted it to him him. My eye Dr asked him if he was going to give me my money back ($960 each eye for corrective lens) his reply was .......no. So I kept after them until they did the lasik

Well, to me that is a case for malpractice. I am sure he did not mean to make the mistake but he is human and he made a mistake. Own up to it. We all make mistakes.

I had an incident with my urology doctor. This was not his fault but his response to what happened showed me what a stand up guy he was. I had to be hospitalized because of two kidney stones that were lodged, one in my bladder and the other in my urethra. They were restricting my flow and causing me to have feelings of urgency to urinate all the time. So my urologist scheduled ablation/laser surgery at the hospital. They have to put you under when they shove a light saber up your urethra :)p:ROFLMAO:). Anyway, he was able to lase the stone in my urethra and when he went to blast the stone in my bladder the laser malfunctioned and quit working. So when I awoke in recovery he told me what happened and immediately apologized because he would have to reschedule another surgery to complete the job. He billed me for the surgery but said he would not bill me for the other one.

Well, the hospital had different ideas as they wanted to bill me for both. It was their equipment that malfunctioned. He went to bat for me and finally convinced them that I should not be billed for the second surgery suite procedure. I still had to pay for a second overnight stay but what are you going to do.

Anyway, that doctor is a stand up guy in my book. I figured he was from my previous dealings with him but he proved it during this episode. I think most of them are. I can understand that a doctor does not want to admit liability because if they do their malpractice insurance rates can skyrocket. They can even have their malpractice insurance canceled. For a surgeon half of their expenses can be just to pay for malpractice insurance.

Well I do know of one person at church that had an infection in one eye, but by for most did not have any issue at all.

It took about 1-1/2 hours from arrival to getting wheeled out.

Right now my eye is still dialated and not yet settled in, so not really clear yet. They said it could be a couple of days to settle in.

Even so, for what I can see -- WOW - I can see signs. I am wearing a patch which makes it a little more difficult. I am sure there will be some time for readjustment
