Failed Finish - and the rebuild

Very nice job Rennie. I applaud you replacing it and making the customer whole. The initial damage was from you and not influenced by the customer?
From what I could determine there was a problem with the finish not adhering. It was flaking off in several areas with no signs of abuse nearby. The finish was RockHard solvent based. For some reason it did not care for the alcohol based dye or perhaps something in my prep. Either way, replacement seemed the best course

I applied a second coat of Emtech em8000 today. The first coat was a disaster as I did not have the gun properly set and had an orange peel finish. Some careful sanding with 220 and a large block go it flat again. I was much more careful with the second coat and it leveled nicely. I'll spray another this afternoon. Since I sanded away more than half of the first coat I might have to go to a 4th. We'll see.
