Well, it's been quite a while since I've done any woodworking and been on FWW.
I decided that I should build my self, as well as my step brother a flag case as we are both veterans. He in the Navy 1969-1972. Me in the Army 1966-1968 and Vietnam 1966-1967.
I started these back in November, however because of the weather I've not been able to work in the shop except for a couple hours a day. My shop is not heated and Wisconsin winters are cold.
Anyway, shortly after beginning, I decided to construct another for a gentleman that served in the Gulf War. He has his own heating & A/C business and when our furnace went out in late November he quoted a price for a new one and even though installation took much longer than he anticipated and required extra work, he stuck to his original quote.
Then, my wife mentioned that maybe I should make cases for her two brothers that served in Vietnam, so I added 2 more cases.
I just completed the first one. It, as they all are, is made from Cherry wood harvested from our property back in the early 2000's, sawed into lumber and dried on property.
It has a hand rubbed coat of Watco Danish Oil and 3 coats of hand rubbed Minwax.
The other 4 are awaiting the glass to be cut, which I hope will be done in the next week or so.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this.

That's some mighty pretty cherry you grew and you're doing it justice.
