Fricken Lasers!!!

It’s a laser engraver... some assembly required...

ElekaMaker EleksLaser -A3 Pro 2500mW Laser Engraving Machine.

I’ve got that same laser. It’s a fun tool. Has its limits (like everything else) but can produce some very cool projects. Have a look at “T2” software. It’s very user friendly and lots of support.

I got it running and made some smoke, but the YSB cable is way too short to reach my desktop computer.
today I went and got a 5m long extension cable.
tgat solves the too short cable problem, but the other problem was the poor quality USB port on the control board. If the USB cable is just bumped or wiggled a tiny bit it loses connection, not good.

I used the micro-B USB cable that came with the machine and placed it so it would have a straight shot to the port and then I hot glued it in place onto the bottom rail of the laser machine.

been running the machine with any problems for close to an hour, but, I do not think I should have to fix simple problems like this. How much more can it cost to put a robust USB port onto the control board?

the standard software works for what I want to do, but I think I’ll be trying some other software soon.

I also got my laser from Banggood. Yes the quality control can sometimes not be the highest standards but these are pretty cheap cost machines. I think most people are using either “Lightburn” or “T2” software. There are some good online forums and Facebook groups that have lots of information on these machines.
I made these for a car group this past summer.

Getting more done on this.

Next up I need to do the electrical set-up.

The vent fan will clear the cabinet of smoke, and I’ll fit a flex hose to the vent that I’ll stick up into my exhaust fan for the workshop.

I need to get some latches to secure the lid when closed, and to pick up the cabinet for moving it around and storage.

Then I’m going to download and set up the T2 laser software.

I've got nothing against T2, I haven't fully evaluated it, but there does seem to be more functionality with Lightburn for the price. Specifically I notice the trace functions and being able to layout multiple objects and work with them individually. YMMV, but give the trials for each a go.

T2 is the only one I have worked with so that’s all I know. I know there are users of both programs so I assume both are capable programs.
