Friday 11Nov22 Veteran's Day

Not sure why they are such a big hit every year but keep getting requests

This year I tried gluing up 8/4 sapele blade would not go smoothly thru 6 inches of sapele so I gave up and purchased Spanish cedar
6.96 a bf for 8/4
So the big ones cost me approx 14 dollars and I can get 2 per bf on the small ones
Expensive to keep treating people but I don't want to be scrooge
What I need to do is show some other people how easy they are to make and convince them they need a band saw

The red one was southern yellow pine but too many stains so paint is easy solution
And the small sapele one needs too much sanding so he will be with me in the land of reject reindeer

Tried some eyes on one of the bigger ones to see if anyone likes it
I can add eyes in 2 minutes

And we just spoke since my daughter won't be going back to work and we won't be babysitting next week we might leave a day earlier and stop in Bristol Virginia as hard rock opened the first casino in virginia

Btw we are not hypocrite nor covid crazy people
We didn't do anything until yesterday when I went for some wood
It's been 5 days and we feel fine
I'd never want to expose anyone but in today's times everyone is a possible carrier and spreader of covid but we don't want to leave too soon and one of us get ill on the road
We test very often and will continue
16 free covid tests a month
Pays to at least try to be safe

stinkin covid.....while my daughter is starting to feel better, they managed to test the baby yesterday and he came back positive. he doesnt seem too sick, a runny nose and cold symptoms....Im glad he was vacinnated.

I am embarking on a new adventure. My wife bought me leather, leatherworking tools and a couple of books put out by Tandy Leather so I can teach myself how to make sheaths for my knives. I know absolutely nothing about this craft so it will be interesting to see what I can do. I don't go to the shop during cold weather so this is going to be an indoor sport.

I sure hope I don't disappoint my wife. Wish me luck.

We want to see pictures. If still doable, get the wife to take a picture of both hands without any band aids and all 10 fingers. I seriously will follow your journey through this new endeavor of yours. Pictures even with blood will be acceptable.

I don't think you understand one important consideration. I am on a blood thinner and cutting myself much more than a pin prick involves a trip to the emergency room to stop the bleeding. I wear kevlar gloves when I am working with my knives.

Besides blood stains from the maker should not be on a new knife or sheath.:D

Shelly and I both got it again. We're just calling it the common cold these days. Shelly shows positive so I figured I had it and stayed home a week layer I tested negative and went back to work.

My policy is if there's no blood in/on the work, it's probably not mine.

I'm on blood thinner too, couldn't take the cheap stuff, had to go with the high priced stuff.
I was on Warfrin for 8 days, my INR went to 7.... had an internal bleed, pretty color of purple from my crotch to my knee.... wound up in hospital for a week and got 2 units of blood to replace what leaked out.

well there's good news and bad news. The good news is there is an approved generic for Eliquis, the bad news is it won't be available for 2 more years.
