Here we go with another one. Whoooppeeee!!! Had my last acupuncture session on my lower back yesterday as well as another dose of tamales. Everything is always right with the world when you are eating tamales. I have no idea what is gonna happen today as it is gonna be another roaster. Or is it toaster? No relief in sight that I know of. So, whatever happens it's most likely gonna be in the cool. Me and the doggies and monster movies most likely.

Mostly same-o around here. I'm still adjusting to taking Zoloft to see if that'll perk me up a bit. So far, so good! Bobbie said I seem more light-hearted - so much for my effort to be my usual grouchy self!

Of course, the main item on our agenda today is the trek to Boston for lunch, then back home for nap time. Afternoon will be what it will be.

Saturday should be shop time for a bit more on a couple of projects as well as some cleanup.

Sunday will start with our usual routine of me preparing brunch. After that, it'll be watching some NASCAR and LLWS - oh, and napping amidst all that!

well all my Medicare training is done so I am ready for the 2024 AEP, there is no color guard activities this week end but there is a paty @ the post tomorrow night for the volunteers, I am doing Baked beans for 50 people. They have a bunch of pulled pork someone else is doing we have a dunk tank so it should be fun especially since it is monsoon season so you never know about the weather. It was NOT predicted for yesterday and we ended up getting a 1/2" in about an hour. Sunday the usual Church and working bingo with Monday being my day as service office and a Riders meeting in the evening.

Still working on the Thistle Cottage video - It was up to 2 hours long but I added a LOT of stuff. I consolodated stuff and I time remaped stuff. Whew - this one is by FAR the most intense video I have made to date.

I am working on sealing my garden room roof. Not a lot of progress pics there as I have too much on my plate for that. The TC video is really intense.

My second 32" monitor is scheduled to be in today.

Watching poles going into the ground this morning and getting squared and braced up. I need to call the smoker customer support to see if I can get a replacement power brick sent out. I have some firmware updates to run on it and need to season it yet. Other than that, lots and lots of mudding and sanding at the guest cabin. I do have to pickup a few sheets of drywall to finish out closets there too, may pick them up in the morning.

Edit: The power co-op is here now too, running fiber for high speed internet.

No activity this weekend planned.. maybe some shop time.
We had a storm last Tuesday when I was supposed to be at the hospital at 5am for my TAVR procedure... Ed and I drove for 45 minutes and didn't get 5 miles from home... the storm dropped 5-7 inches of rain (depending on who you talk to) overnight and the wind downed 4 trees on the 4 possible routes from my house to Knoxville... I did get a lot of practice in 3 point turn arounds..

Had to reschedule the procedure for September 19 (my birthday)

We're still fighting Dianne's edema in her legs... taking her back to the wound center in Farragut (near Knoxville) on Monday to have them treated... between trips to the WC. I try to treat and re-wrap them every other night... they don't look near as nicely wrapped as when the nurses do it.

This it the last empty weekend on my calendar for a while. (September is gonna be a zoo.) I have some more yardwork/trimming to finish up, but that might get postponed if things don't cool off a bit. I've also got several things to check into and debug in my band gear. All sorts of little gremlins popped up at our Dragonhorn gig last week (there were issues with my wireless unit, one of my guitars, my guitar synth, and our PA system) and I need to get them all sorted out before the next show on September 1st. Also need to learn 2 or 3 new songs that we're hoping to add to the repertoire between now and next month.

Sunday LOML and I might take a drive up to Santa Fe for the afternoon. This weekend is their annual Indian Market, where the entire plaza has high-end Native artists displaying their work. It'll all be way out of our price range, but there's always some amazing work shown. It'll also be a good little road test of the new tires and wheels on my 4Runner.

Went to an ophthalmological specialist yesterday to assess my ptosis. I didn't know I had ptosis until all this crap started with my cataracts.

The surgeon said he could fix it in about 15 minutes and I would have a black eye for a couple of days and all would be better. The only problem is the earliest date for availability for this surgery in his office would be next March. Not sure I want to have another surgery but I will think about it.

Spent several mornings this week shaping handles on my knives. I do love this part of the process. I mean, it is working with wood after all. A friend dropped off a 20" blade to add to my raw material inventory. Still haven't decided whether to buy a small forge. I need to do something to make the heat treating process easier.

I've been asked to donate some pieces to give to large donors at the university where my wife has been teaching math for 30 years. They are looking for smaller pieces which is right up my alley. I have no plans to turn anything large unless it is platter. I have a stack of platter blanks that I need to whittle down. It would be an opportunity to get rid of some wood in my hoard. You never know people might want to buy something and I could make a buck or two.

I have an idea for a sculptural piece that I might start soon. I am hesitant to say anything about it because I don't know how it is going to turn out. I ain't much of an artsy woodworker. We shall see.

after a great 4 days away in conneticut, we were babysitting today while my daughter set up her classroom, she hasnt been in work for 6 months and it wa s a alot to go in to classroom and set up.

I went back to sanding and making rings for my attempt at a large segmented bowl, and it was just before I realized I probably bit off a bit more then I can chew.. a bridge too far?a lesson in futility?
cant stand that Ive always been the kind to just jump into the pool or ocean before I see how cold it is.....but Im on my last couple of rings and thats that. not even sure if the weight of this will be supported on my lathe and chuck.....eh.....if it doesnt work its just a waste of a weeks worth of time, and time is all I have these days, so I wont go ballistic if it fails.
Im not an experienced woodturner but wanted to give it one shot before I get rid of lathe.

Had planned going to an estate sale today which advertised hardwood. Read a little closer and it was just ublaned cedar and some maple. Nothing I needed. So back at the ranch broke out the mower and cut the grass. Will probably be the last time for a couple of weeks as 100's and dry. Nothing else planned just piddle around the house and irritate the better half.
Everyone have a safe and healthy weekend and more.
