Back to a normal weekend for us. Beach was great, but home is great, too!

Today will be our usual trek to Boston for lunch, then back home for a nap. Not sure what the afternoon will bring - lately it's been storms!!

Saturday should be some shop time on a couple of small projects along with more organizing.

Sunday will be the usual process of me preparing brunch, then just chillin' watching some golf until the NASCAR All-star race starts.

Finished polishing the blades of this batch of knives. Next is handling. That will have to wait for a while.

Going to do some turning if the storms aren't too bad. Already getting heavy rains so it is unlikely I will get to the shop until the storms pass. I don't like to turn during storms as I am always in fear of lightning messing up my lathe. Our neighborhood seems to get a lot of lightning strikes. I think that is because of all the tall poplars and longleaf yellow pines which seem to be lightning attractors. The poplars explode when they are hit and then the lightning runs into any nearby houses.

I am on the last book of the Game of Thrones series; A Dance with Dragons. I have really enjoyed reading this series and watching the DVD's. I only saw a couple of episodes of the show when it was on HBO. We don't subscribe to any of the premium channels being the cheapskates that we are. The programs are quite well done and for the most part are faithful to the books. The special effects, specifically the dragons, are incredibly well done.

The boss lady is going away for the weekend so I will be baching if for a few days..

Got my gazaboo repaired after high winds blew some bifglimbs down. Didn't hit the corner ,I did that when I pulled a big limb down off the tree. Chain snagged on the corner and I pulled instead of pushed. Wasn't to bad ,but mama not to pleased with me. Weather was very pleasent so nice to work outside. Today yard work and bush trimming and some flower planting. Have to wait and see if storms move back in.
Everyone have a safe and healthy weekend and more.

Went to VA Pain Management yesterday to discuss further shots in back. The past 4 days I had a real bad hitch in my get along in the right hip. The good doctor gave me a trigger point injection of lidocane (sp?) in it and it's pretty well gone away. Wheeee!!!. Today I am supposed to lay low and don't do much of anything. Tomorrow I am going to try and do some light stuff in the shop. Between all the rain, sinus crud and hip and knee pain, not much has been happening in the shop and i feel guilty about that. I think my lathe is mad at me.

Last Friday with students for the year! Four school days left next week then finalize and post grades and home for the summer. CJ and Jon are coming the next two weekends to work with their calves and I hope to get some pictures posted. Yard is a mess and a bunch of ponies need hooves trimmed next week. You all have a safe and healthy weekend and upcoming week.

Taking the grandson out for his birthday, doing some shopping and finishing up garden planting. Moles are active so traps will go out.
Finally, after a few hundred dollars in plants, soil prep, fertilizer, protective netting and many hours of labor, it looks like we may be able to harvest five dollars worth of blueberries!:rofl:  .

Getting to the home stretch on the walnut bed project. Today I'll do some sanding, then later on some sanding and the I'll sand before dinner. Tomorrow I'll start the day with some sanding, followed by sanding and then finish up the day with a little sanding. Sunday I may sand a little then take a break from NASCAR to do some sanding. If things go well I'll sand some more in the evening and maybe, just maybe, I'll get to sand a little on Monday prior to getting to some assembly.

LOML got a newfangled knee brace a few weeks ago. She had to go for a special fitting session to learn how to put it on. This thing has a ton of Velcro straps, some of which are not supposed to be changed, and others that you open up to put the brace on and take it off.) Of course, she didn't remember which is which, so the last time she took it off, she undid all of them. Then neither of us could figure out how to put it all back together. So this afternoon she I are headed to the orthopedic doc to get educated on how to assemble it and put it on. This time I'm going in with her to record the whole process on video so I can fix it the next time. After that we're running some errands and will cap it off with an early dinner to celebrate our anniversary a day early.

I'm not sure how much yardwork will happen this weekend. It's been raining off and on for the past few days and the forecast is looking wet for the whole weekend. If it clears up for a while, I'm hoping to get my tomato bed prepped and get some plants in the ground.

Shop-wise, I'm working on an adjustable gimbal mount for my little Zoom Q2n video camera so I can use it to record band gigs. It's specifically designed to handle loud sound without distorting and can get decent video quality in low light conditions, so it's ideal for recording bands. I've had it for a few years and only used it once, because there's not an easy way to set it up where it can get good shots without being in the middle of the dance floor. I finally had an epiphany last week and figured out a way to mount it in a location at the Dragonhorn where it'll get a good view and still be out of the audience's way. I still need to work out a couple of details, but should be able to get it done this weekend. I'll post pics when I'm done (if it works out, lol).

Today I'm kicking back with my feet up.... I had a heart cathiterzation on Wednesday in prep for a TAVR replacement of the aortic valve... Doc said I could do the Farmer's Market tomorrow as long as I didn't lift anything... I have 2 tubs of bowls and pepper mills, 2 folding tables, an "A" frame with 5 shelves for display... plus the tent... likely will wind up lifting something, so have decided to cancel for this weekend. I go back on Jun 14 for some more tests and a CT scan, then the final procedure sometime towards the end of June or early July.
They tried to go up my arm for the catherization, but doc said he couldn't get past the elbow... I have a nasty looking bruise on the inside of the elbow... they then went up from the groin... also have a nasty looking bruise there.... I feel fine, but if the pump stops, so will I.
The doc keeps asking if I have chest pains, (NO), then do I have shortness of breath (NO unless I exert myself - I'm 81).

Tomorrow and Sunday will stay close to my recliner with my Kindle.

Rebuilding a deck. Put 'new formula' pressure treated boards on it about 5~6 years ago and they've rotted terribly - so, $2000 later the rotten wood is coming up and Trex "Enhanced" is going down. The deck is 12 X 15, with a stair step that's 3 X 12. So far, I've got about ¾ of the main deck done. Will finish that tomorrow, then start on the step. At least the weather is decent...

I mowed the yard last night, but as I was finishing up the drive belt popped off. It didn't appear to break, but I think it's the original as I bought a new one for it last year and decided it was too much work to change it when the old one was still going...well. I'm guessing it stretched and rolled off, but will check all the pulleys for wear while I'm doing the job. Will hopefully be finishing up some plumbing, hang the water heater, run its vent and gas line, and hanging a few sheets of drywall to get the mini split install going. Messing with another server I bought tonight.

Put out the bulk of the tomatoes and peppers.. 85 peppers tonight, 70 ish yesterday just a few small stragglers still in starter trays. About 90 tomato plants... The squash and melons are barking at my heals to go out as well probably sunday, maybe early next week. And it's time to plant the corn and cucumbers as well! Busy busy although I've only been able to do maybe 3hrs in the morning and 2-3hrs in the evening around the heat which will hopefully break over the weekend.

Just relaxing this weekend. Last Thursday my wife Marilyn had a medical emergency while we were food shopping. Long story short she was rushed to the hospital and was treated for a stroke. 2 days of MRI, MRA, and a few more tests that I cant remember the name of determined that she has a TIA. Small stroke.
Lucky that we got her there fast and there are no lasting affects. She has to wear a heart monitor for 30 days to rule out AFIB as a cause.
Scared the daylight out of me. We talked in the hospital about our future and decided that we should set a time in the near future to sell the house and live a less stressful life.
Quite eye opening realizing that we are getting older (74) and can't do what we used to do just a few years ago.

10-4, good buddy!

We've always done our own lawn work, etc., but over the last couple of years have farmed it out to a man who does it for a living. I thought sure I'd be doing the mowing until I was much older (I'm soon to be 79 and Bobbie is 75). Our finance guy convinced us we needed to start using some of the funds we accumulated for our own good rather than try to leave it all for others. We're taking his advice!!!
