Friday 6/12/2026 Beautiful Day

Happy the heat and humidity breaks tomorrow
Taking kiddies to a street festival tomorrow then might have a small watch party? To watch the knicks tomorrow night
I'm not a big soccer fan but will watche USA tonight
Shop time sunday
A lot of babysitting next 2 weeks
and just as i was stepping out of the shower this morning I was informed that the street festival was the raindate for last week. which meant there were no rides, and only half the art vendors would attend, meaning mostly people trying to sign you up for windows, contracting, medical plans, 9 different cell companies, and a few people selling cheap; costume jewerly the kind I give to the kiddies for free halloween, and also told that at 3 they are going to my daughters brotherinlaw birthday celebration. so why would I go, all agreed, they will come here tomorrow. we headed off to a different street fair, supposed to be local artisans, and I counted 2 artists, the rest were people trying to selll windows, contractors, p;hone companies, karate schools, etc......such a waste of time. we bought a quart of pickles so it wasnt a wasted time. went back into the shop, where the temps were like I was on mars, so I called a lid on it. I think by monday all p;ieces will be cut.....then the fun begins.

And speaking for Friday . . . I sure do miss T.G.I.Friday's buffalo wings. Now I know that wings, like pizza and hot dogs, are an area of contention and I am not standing in any specific camp. Some folks like their wings plump and juicy, I like mine lean, deep fried, and crispy. Some folks like (unbelievably) thin crust pizza; I like mine Chicago style and weighing in around half my body weight. I remember walking into a hot dog place in Chicago east of the pier . . .

From my SoCal point of view I was sure there had to be a hot dog under all that stuff . . . somewhere :) .

Be that as it may; I lament the loss of T.G.I.Friday's and their wonderful fried wings and wing sauce. I have been searching for years to find something similar without success.

A few years back I went to one of the gatherings either Rennie or Larry's?
Elen couldn't leave with me so I drove early
And met a gambling buddy in Chicago in the desplaines area
Plan was elen would come in to ohare which was 5 minutes from my hotel and then together we went to michigan
My buddy treated me to neat steak house and while I appreciated that I was dying to try Chicago deep dish
So when elen got there we went over to one of the chains they sell deep dish Lou manato's I can't recall the name and I'm too lazy to look it up
The waitress said you know it takes approx 45 minutes to make a pie and no I did not know so after salads and garlic bread by the time the deep dish got there we were almost full
A slice each was all I needed
Pizza cake is what I called it and I prefer Brooklyn New York pizza over it but there was nothing wrong with it
