I thought our larger hummingbird feeder had a leak, it’s been going empty every 2 or 3 days, so I put out another just to make sure they had food. As it turns out we’ve got at least 8 to 10 birds feeding constantly all day long, so I think the feeder is fine, just at capacity. They’ve half emptied the smaller one this morning.

Very cool. We love watching them zoom around. Our two feeders usually only attract 4-6, which stay around the garden all summer, and sometimes well into October. We think the same familys come back year after year. One year at our old house only twenty miles away we had upwards of 20 zooming around three feeders on opposite sides of the house. One of the feeders was a window feeder and really fun to watch. I had to remove it after the ants found it.

We've had humming birds and hummingbird moths hanging around our russian sage and another fern like tree thing that has vibrant pink spindly flowers. Probably should set out a feeder.

Very cool video Darren

There are a couple around here who live in the area all year. Which I find pretty amazing how the little fellows manage to survive weeks of sub-freezing temperatures and lots of snow. Amazing little birds.

Plus they eat mosquitoes and other flying bugs so win win.

We had a pair at the first of the season and then they disappeared. About a month ago they hummers showed up again. Now we have about six and I think a few new hatches. Put feeders in back of the house and one in front to confuse them. They still fight over the feeder. Fun to watch.

We have several here as well. Going broke making sugar water. Friend of the family says this is the time of year they hit it hard. Winter prep.
When we lived in LA my wife was going through 5 pounds of sugar daily feeding the hummers in the summer. She'd have 8 feeders out in the summer. During winter months it was a lot less, but we still had hummingbirds year-round. This pic shows a typical afternoon at the LA house in the summer. The feeders would be crowded in the late afternoon, while another 50+ birds would be in a holding pattern over the back yard.
