Once again I am up early although that is not a particularly rare occurrence. Wifey and I tend to be early risers. We both get up around 5 AM. We cuss because we would rather sleep in.

This week has been a mixed bag of accomplishments. I turned a footed shallow cherry bowl that turned out reasonably well. I have to reverse turn it so I can tidy up the foot. This bowl is a very impractical item for use as the foot is entirely too small in diameter for stability. It was designed to be a pretty bowl not necessarily a functional one.

I completed my stackin' snackin' bowl set. These little bowls proved to be more difficult than I expected. It is really hard for me to turn identical items, exactly the same diameter, exactly the same height etc. etc. These are reasonable facsimiles of each other I guess.

I also worked on a set of matching, carved sake cups. This has proven to be more of a challenge than I ever imagined. I don't know who told the fat boy he could carve but I am in the process of proving that whoever it was is wrong. The project doesn't require any precise carving or fancy carving I am just incising shallow simple designs into the sides of these cups. Slow and tedious work this is.... After a few hours my hands are hurting and I have to put the Dremel down for the day. I guess I am gripping the darn thing too hard but I don't feel as if I can control it if I don't have it in a death grip. If I ever get all the carving done I will be painting the carving areas and sanding off the paint that is not in the carved areas.

Next week wifey and I will be celebrating our 53rd anniversary. Who would have thought she would put up with me that many years. I wouldn't have but that is why she is a sainted woman. I have been exceptionally lucky. Thank you my dear.

This week started out all wrong. Monday wife had a mahjong gathering with some ladies. I'm taking down a folding table, the table slipped and I feel hitting the leginto my side. Half hour later and an ambulance ride to Joplin hospitol I x-rayed 2 fractured ribs.. Overnight unpleasant night in that joint and was released about r pm. First time I've ever had a broken bone and it does HURT. Slowly getting better. At least I can get out of bed by myself. Damage included scrapes and Bruises and pain in my right arm bruising internally. Never do that again. But I have good help from my wife and daughter. Have lots of chores to take care but they will just have to wait.
Everyone have a safe and healthy weekend and more.
David

Oh geeze, David. Never thought of mahjong as a high risk activity. I know the broken rib feeling and am sorry you are hurting. It's a slow heal too, and it forces you to take it easy longer than you want. The chores will still be there when you're ready. Heal quick.
Weekend gardening for me. There is a point in gardening when everything looks beautiful, before the bugs and fungi get their hooks into everything and start killing your crops unless you do something. This is that time. The cucumbers, squash and tomatoes look great and are producing. Critter control has slowed down, but there is still a rabbit lurking out there. Will be trying to set up a drip irrigation system to help conserve water because the water meter is used to determing our sewer bills and mine will spike due to watering the garden, even though the water does not go into the sewer system. The county used to let you separately meter your irrigation system and make an adjustment at the end of the season, but no longer. Stay safe and healthy, folks

I slept in this morning must be the cool weather. Woke up to a cool 57 degrees... of did I mention I am on the coat with my Gal Pal @ her place in Cambria, Cal. Gonna be here through Sunday. Then I'll head over to Coalinga to spend Fathers day with my Oldest Son. Before heading back over to Arizona Next week. Spent yesterday drinking wine went to Toban James winery then over to Moonstone cellers.

David, I saw the headline on the news about a Missouri man being hospitalized in a vicious folding table attack, but I didn't realize it was you. Heal quickly, buddy!

Not a lot on the calendar for the weekend. It's going to be in the high 90s all weekend. Saturday will mostly be chores around the house and yard, and some guitar learning/practice in preparation for a friend's wedding reception we're playing at next weekend. Sunday is the monthly Range Day with my shooting club. It'll be a hot one out there this month, but I have some fun drills in mind for everyone to do.

i sneezed getting off a toilet bowl at midnight during covid and fractured a rib......elen thought I was having a heart attack because I could not catch a breath, and she heard me struggling...it hit so hard and sudden and I heard it snap.....i spent the night with 100s of covid patients and they sent me home with tylenol.....they never even xrayed my chest after I told them what happenned, they sent me for a cat scan at 3 am and the technician told me they were looking for stones.......to this day I want to go back andand tell them to switch professions, morons.....the idiots who are supposed to treat injuries.....i filed a complaint.....big deal, they all protect their own....but the pain is incredible....I couldnt sleep for 3 nights until I got some pain killers....but by then it eased up enough.....good luck, god speed with your recovery....

worked a full day....really knocked out a zillion pieces of good fitting intarsia....did my walk, and just had friends over...my buddy who had the major stroke.....noone thought hed make it...in a coma for 6 weeks....and tonight we were planning out next trip to lancaster pa because he loves shady maple and his wife like mine is a quilter. Im happy just to see him these days.

both kids are coming over sunday....so it should be fun.

happy fathers day to all those that celebrate....

Well spent 4 hr in the emergency room yesterday. I woke up around 7:30 and was throwing up by 8:00. Around 11:00 was running a fever of 100.2 and started throwing up again around 1:00. Called the Doc that did the surgery on my foot to let him know but he is still on vacation. So I headed to the ER. They almost sucked me dry of blood for test, stuck long cotton swabs up my nose, chest x-rays and also my foot. Foot kind of infected but not bad. Gave me some liquid steak and some antibiotics and something for nausea. Oh they also did an ultrasound on my gallbladder. Fond nothing no virus of any kind and gallbladder was OK. Feel fine today but worn out.

Here is a shot of my foot for those that are not squeamish. (If the administrator thinks this to bad feel free to delete)

Geeze Jay. When I saw those symptoms I was gonna suggest you cut back on the road kill during the hot summer months, but then thought that might make David laugh and hurt his ribs, and then thought it might make you laugh and hurt your foot. Apologies to you both. Hope you heal fast.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Had a call from my son yesterday for Fathers day. Told me two people from there church broke ribs he following day as my episode. One broke 11 ribs and son said he was in same room I was in Wednesday night. The other guy broke 2 ribs. and had to have plate put. Maybe this thing is contagious. Still not a laughing matter.
