Sure makes a mess! https://www.wimp.com/wood-turning-a-bowling-ball/
If you look closely, it's not quite centered when he first mounts it on the lathe. But then the camera cuts to a new shot and it's centered and balanced. I'm guessing he did it the old fashioned way...trial and error. He just cut that part out of the video.Wondering how he found the perfect concentric point on the tail of the bowling ball to start???
Knowing your propensity for turning boxes,I'm kind of surprised you've not turned any billiard balls.I tried it one time. After about 15 minutes of making a mess of the shop I put that bowling ball in the gutter to never be seen again.
I tried it one time Vaughn but I really hated the smell and the mess. Dadgum stringy plastic everywhere.Knowing your propensity for turning boxes,I'm kind of surprised you've not turned any billiard balls.
Not much different from turning an acrylic pen. Stinky and messy, but easy to finish.I tried it one time Vaughn but I really hated the smell and the mess. Dadgum stringy plastic everywhere.
I probably only turned a half dozen acrylic pens for the same reasons.....Not much different from turning an acrylic pen. Stinky and messy, but easy to finish.
I've turned more acrylic than that, but to be fair, I'm stinky and messy myself. Who am I to judge, lol?I probably only turned a half dozen acrylic pens for the same reasons.....
