i find that if you buy a bowl, it is a lot cheaper, and a lot less messy....

If you look closely, it's not quite centered when he first mounts it on the lathe. But then the camera cuts to a new shot and it's centered and balanced. I'm guessing he did it the old fashioned way...trial and error. He just cut that part out of the video.

I'm kind of surprised he went to all that work to make a nice-looking bowl, and then just hacked the tenon off with a saw instead of finishing the bottom nicely.

I tried it one time Vaughn but I really hated the smell and the mess. Dadgum stringy plastic everywhere.

I never tried either a bowling ball or a billiard ball. And from what I have read here from Mike, I am glad I haven't.

Not much different from turning an acrylic pen. Stinky and messy, but easy to finish.

I probably only turned a half dozen acrylic pens for the same reasons.....
