I've exhausted my detective skills and now turn to the collective brain

I have my new shop set up and partially ready, still trying to figure out where I'll put things...
In the new shop I inhereted my son's JET1640 (120 v/variable speed)... a really sweet lathe and an upgrade from my old JET1440 with the Reeves unit.
New problem is, the 1649 has a 1 1/4" x 8 Tpi spindle, all of my chucks are Barracudas from PSI which threads to a 1" X 8 TPI spindle.
I've searched every where I know to search, but can't find an adapter that will reduce the 1 1/4" to 1" and has a through hole for my vacuum chuck system...
So I have this really really nice lathe that none of my chucks or face plates will fit.
My son does have a couple of chucks that he used and they are adapted to the 1640, but will entail changing jaws almost as often and I change chucks and
being a little on the lazy side I'd rather just change chucks.

question to the BORG collective, does anyone know where I might find a spindle adapter that has a 1 1/4" x 8 tpi female end that converts down to a 1" x 8 tpi
and has a through hole that a lamp rod will pass through so I can screw my stronghold vacuum chucks to?

So far I've been through almost every wood turning catalog I can think of, have called PSI and Peachtree, but don't think they understand what I'm looking for
and most of the catalogs are a little vague in their descriptions (Or I'm a little dense and don't read their descriptions correctly.)

I'm with Darren and Ryan...I'd try drilling the $19 adapter. There should be enough meat on the 1" solid male thread to fit a hole that'll fit a 1/4" lamp rod. Also, check to be sure your chucks don't already have a 1" female to 1 1/4" male adapter in them. As I recall most of my Nova chucks came with such an adapter, and it looks like some of the Barracudas also have something similar.
