Just another Friday 5/8/26

Taken a crew to go pick up some tools for the veterans Wood working shop. Then once it all unloaded I'll come back to the office and continue to do my Continuing Education courses to renew my insurance license. It's a requirement that I do 48 hours of CE so far I have done 22 hours (It took me about 4 hours do do that) so I should be able to knock it out over the next week in my spare time. At 78 years old I really don't need to be doing it but the moneys good and I enjoy helping my book of business clients and the residuals are kinda nice to have. Sunday is and Monday I have appointment scheduled @ the vet center.

Try and fix mower. Stump jumped up and bent bracket in front of deck. Now see if I can improvise and get it fixed. That or new mower. Been looking at Ariens Edge zt, it's got a decent price and checks out pretty well. LOML says you're to old for a new mower?? Well who else will get the grass clipped? Guess we could get somew goats. We'll see. Got just about everything planted in garden beds. Just a couple more cucumber plants and few flowers. Just pray for no frost.
Everyone have a safe and healthy weekend and more.
Peace
David

The weather around here has been as variable as it could be. Where else could you have 10" of snow followed by multiple near 90 degree days and then have frost on the vegetable shoots that just popped up in the garden.... I am thankful for the rain that has the garden looking pretty good. We are still considered in drought.

It looks like I may be in for some plumbing surgery but that is not 100% yet.

Looking forward to seeing my buddies Sunday afternoon.

Have to go get some new blades for the Bad Boy. Hit a rock again like I do every time I mow and broke the tip off of one blade. Caused quit a vibration. I'm not to upset because the blades that are on there have been beat to death do to all the rock. When I mow is the ONLY time I miss Kansas that and trying to plant a garden

Staying home and taking care of the wife.
While at a quilting retreat last Monday she took a bad fall. Did a 'face plant' on an asphalt parking lot. Broke her nose, banged her forehead, knee, and left side. Ribs aren't broken, but she's feeling like they are. CT scan at hospital showed no concussion or spine injury, so at least that's good.
She was about 90 miles from home, so niece and I drove down there to bring her home Monday evening. She's been pretty stiff and sore all week and is just now beginning to be a bit active.

Yesterday, I took a break from running and doing any work around the house. It had been a busy week since I last took a break. I decided to just take a walk on my usual run and brought my phone to take some pictures. It was a beautiful day.

A view from the house toward the valley below to the north. My walk was toward the south end of the valley, not in that direction.

A view down my dirt road toward the valley below. Those buildings are not in the valley but a ridge on the other side of our creek where one of my neighbors are. You can't see the valley floor from here.

Down in the valley, looking south where I generally run to. A pasture full of cows and their young steers. Soon they will be separated and moved to grazing lands.

It really is a pleasant run/walk with little to no traffic. Just neighbors heading to town or the school bus coming to pickup the few children that live in the valley. A friendly wave from everyone.

And on it goes until about here when I have reached 2.5 miles and turn around. The road continues until it hits the road that runs from Loop Loop pass to the town of Twisp. The view is toward the much larger Methow Valley and Methow River which our valley creek drains into.

I ran and walked already this morning and have a pickleball lesson later today. This weekend will be more weed whacking and finishing up an interior house project.

Been fighting a stomach bug for the last few days. Had to make an emergency run for Pepto-Bismol and Imodium. Still full speed ahead in the garden. Need to make another mulch run and pick up a few more cattle panels and T-posts from tractor supply for trellis arches over the new raised beds. Stay safe and healthy, folks.
My grandsons school sent notices out about how they are sanitizing the entire school as 25 percent or more of students are out with stomach virus
My grandson is with us today he's over it but we are giving the school more time

On another note I cannot figure out how to print out a downloaded pattern at full size on 4 pages to get it all
Only letting us print one part
Waiting on response from company or my son for help
Mother's Day st sons home with his mil and fil also and their families

I think I sprayed the last coat of poly on three cherry kitchen cabinets. They are just about ready for install. I do not like making kitchen cabinets. I only do it because it's the only way I can afford nice cabinets. I cannot wait to be finshed. I still have a bunch more to do.

Mothers day my daughter is taking us out for lunch and to see the movie - Michael at the Providence Place Mall

The temps are supposed to hit the low 80s here this weekend, so today I'm going to get the swamp cooler fully up and running. I did a bunch of maintenance to it a month or so ago but then the weather cooled off, so I never got it completely hooked up. I'll be mowing the lawn today and trying to get another pickup load or two of yard trimmings hauled to the dump this weekend.

I also need to spend a fair amount of time in guitar mode getting ready for a couple rehearsals and a gig this coming week.

So...on Friday, I returned some tools to my neighbor, thanks. Asked him to help carry my table top, upstairs, and into the garage.
My finishing mix , is stinky! Much better for the wife. So, the top will live in the garage, till most of the finishing is done.
Today then....burned 2 large boxes of scrap/cut-offs, plus yard debris. I am tired.

stay safe

those views never get old . the landscape is spectacular

my kids and wife have made fun of me when I get to certain locations and I just want to sit and take it in. i can sit on a balcony in a hotel or someones home and just look out into that kind of landscape for a couple of hours. i cant desribe the enjoyment I get. I stood in the mojave desert in sourthern nevada years ago, near arizona and california, and just sat on a bench until I got yelled at its time to go. the openess, the us is a beautiful place, people go to cancun and cape cod, not me....Id enjoy being on top of a mountain taking in the beauty of mother nature.

A beautiful scenery is not enough as it needs to be coupled with the lack of human induced background noise. I have been places where the scenery was fantastic but it was ruined with the constant hum of traffic and other background noise. Right now the cattle are complaining and I can hear them, but soon they will be gone to grazing land and it will be peaceful again.
