A friend came by while I was making a knife and said I should make a skinner. He said all the deer hunters would love to have a small sharp skinning knife that is easy to carry.
Here is my attempt at a skinning knife. My buddy says it is a winner. I used some of the thinnest saw plate that I had to make this one and didn't burn it up during heat treatment (Miracle of miracles!)
Handled in mahogany, this knife is a little over 6" long and the bevel is almost full blade width. It is SHARP! I used it to cut some steak and it went through the meat like a hot knife through butter. That Work Sharp is by far the best knife sharpening tool I have ever used. I used the 3000 grit belt to put the final edge on this little knife.
