Finished this gem up yesterday. I didn't have any more red oak so I did the lid out of a piece of mahogany. I think the contrast looks pretty good. The outside diameter is 9 1/2" inside 5". Total height is 6 1/4" vessel height 4" and vessel depth is 3 3/4". The volume measured at 3/4 gallon. Lot of goodies can be put in there. As usual I sealed the wood with walnut oil. I did the finishing with walnut oil based wax. Gave it a nice satiny finish.

Thanks all! Never thought about ebonizing it. Never done it, but am aware of the process. Next piece of oak I get, I might try it. Waiting on some live oak to dry a bit. Hmmmm.
