I have been digging through my buckets and boxes of goodies and came upon two blanks of Macassarr ebony that I had saved for something special. I guess it is as good a time as any to turn them. Dang stuff is l like turning coal and every sweaty thing I was wearing is probably permanently stained black. Oh well....

About 2 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter. Finished with b rushing lacquer; rubbing down with 6/0 steel wool between coats.

Ohhhh. You hit one of my soft spots; ebony. Beautiful form from a beautiful material. I know only too well what you mean about the spoil being like cola dust.

That's a great piece Mike, as said above, both in form and choice of wood, I've a 8 X 8 x 4" block of ebony that's been on the 'save for something special' rack for 10+ years that I must get round to making a decision on soon.
