This one is way above my pay grade but I'm stupid and can't seem to learn my lesson
It's not expensive since most of the wood came from scraps
I'm using every species I have for this one
I thought I had Purple Heart but I must have used it on an American flag cutting board
So more is expected today
Purple Heart for head top of neck and inside circles of feathers

Not sure why I torture myself with these hard pieces but do enjoy designing them myself

I have to build chairs and table today for my granddaughters doll house
The pieces have been sitting here for years and she keeps holding the boxes and asking me why she can't play with them so while I'm watching Ohio state shortly I'll glue them up
Nothing like having another woman in my life who is waiting on me to do something for her
Here is where I'm at

As one can see I have a lot of shaping and sanding in front of me so the bloodwood centers fit good
Not sure how the purpleheart centers will work out

Look at my beautiful grandchildren am I lucky or what?
They called this morning and told me they miss me
Melts my heart
Everyone is here tomorrow for breast cancer walk in jones beach so I'll get some opinions to see if the peacock is worth finjshjng
It should be made with one sheet of something paintable like mdf and then painted bright colors but like I said I'm stupid so I'm trying to make it out of wood first

Had a really horrific night
Like a moron I went along with others watching the games and ate junk food and pizza
My sugar skyrocketed and starting at 1:30 I was in the bathroom every 30 minutes until I dehydrated myself and then had a miserable upper leg spasm
My misery woke up elen also

So very little sleep and I'm calling it a day at 1 pm

This is where I'm at
Finished the neck and head area
Nothing is perfect but I never make anything perfect so this is on par for my class of scrollsawing
Never saw canary wood got a few board feet and used it for beak
Beautiful stuff canary wood for a peacock
I think when I sand and shape the fits will be a bit tighter
For me these dense hardwoods are difficult
I also got a new addition in the shop a heater directed right on my scroll saw stool so I can work out there as the weather changes

Sanding is finished
Did not come out as well as I expected but this piece is a bit of a reach for me
I'll take a pic tomorrow
I'll start glue up which is always fun with dozens of pieces
I'm picking up new glasses tomorrow so maybe that will help hehehe
My main focus this week is to plan a getaway for us for number 47 December 2nd
I'm sure a casino and quilting store will be somewhere in those plans

I will start frame tomorrow
Frame will be same as the others I made sapele frame with maple back
Bird is finished
I'm not looking foward to working with purple heart on scroll saw anymore it was brutal even with my 9 blade
Scrolling is a lot more fun with soft woods

A few more coats of spray lacquer is all I need to do besides frame

I think this is 11 or 12 species of wood
Bloodwood and purple heart were tough

I wanted it lifted higher off the frame so I made an additional piece to put under the feet
After I glued it up I didn't want to recut a
Larger piece nor would it break apart so that's that

my tablesaw dust line got clogged, so I had to stop cutting the maple for the frame.....as I was clearing the lines, not a nice job.....when I stood up the room was spinning. I know my ears have been clogged and tried to drain them myself, but yesterday and today everytime I stand up the world is spinning. so now that IM part of a concierge physicians office, hes on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year, and if he cant see me immediately he will send me to another doctor that will...anyway....I called him for suggestion, his nurse said just come in right now.....both my ears are 100 percent blocked. he couldnt do anything today because he said Id bleed because the clog is rock hard. sorta like the rock hard maple Im using today.....so now back to him monday, not sure if Ill be able to finish tomorrow or saturday. not that important, if I feel good Ill finish it, if not, no time line.
on another note, my son is hooking me up with an 11x17 inch printer....that is great for printing out intarsia.... i havent liked anything chapgpt AI has been designing for me...so Ill keep working with it until it gives me something I can work with.

I think in 20 years millions of people are going to lose jobs to AI, we are in the baby stages of it......its going to replace so many people.....might be best to go into a trade, like plumbing because a computer will never fix a leaky toilet of sink.

I feel guilty because my son has to come over to night to replace my upstairs faucet.....I cant do the bending especially right now....Ive replaces bathroom faucets over the past 40 years, but the bending is getting to be too much for me.....the kid works 2 jobs, is working on his house, but he would never say no to his daddy. Im lucky to have 2 great kids. (if I needed my son in law, would be here also but man o man, he is working alot of overtime and I dont want him to not take it, not at doubletime in the electricians union, thats good dough, and hes been working weekends. he got promoted to foreman, and its in a huge hospital. so he is doing ok also, combined with him needing to be with the kids, he has zero free time)
the only one that says no to me is my wife. but IM used to that.
